What Is Uber’s Referral Program?

The Uber referral program is a two-way program that has been built for both Uber drivers and customers, incentivizing drivers to sign up to drive and customers to use the app.

Incentives are offered as a two-way bonus, which allows Uber to tap into their existing network of drivers and customers to grow their network.

I’ve used this program as a new driver myself, but have also refered countless drivers and riders to Uber, from which I’ve benefited quite a bit from the referrals in the process.

Regardless of whether you’re a new driver or rider, I highly suggest signing up with a referral code to claim both a cash bonus and free credit.

How Uber Referrals Work for Drivers

Uber offers sign-up bonuses to new drivers as financial incentives, which helps to make Uber and Uber Eats an enticing option when applying to driving gigs.

These bonuses, called “earnings guarantees,” ensure drivers earn a minimum amount for completing a set number of deliveries within a specific timeframe. If drivers’ earnings fall short, Uber pays the difference.

For instance, Uber Eats might offer a $500 earnings guarantee for completing 50 deliveries in 30 days. If a driver earns $300 from these deliveries, Uber will pay the additional $200 to meet the $500 guarantee.

This helps to attract new drivers and then motivates them to complete the required rides or deliveries while ensuring they receive a minimum earning.

To be eligible for these bonuses, referred drivers must enter an invite code to their account during the application process, or sign up using an existing driver’s referral link.

If you don’t have one to use, you can sign up using my referral link here.

On the other end of the spectrum, Uber will reward the existing driver for referring the new applicant, paying them a set bonus amount that is unlocked whenever the new driver completes a milestone.

The actual amounts and conditions vary widely by region, but typically, they look something like this:

Along the referred driver’s journey, the bonuses will continue to pay out as long as they continue to meet the conditions outlined in the promotion.

For example, I referred a new driver recently who just completed a promotion milestone. As a result, I received a $25 payment in return.

When you refer enough drivers to the platform, it is easy to see how these small incremental amounts can start adding up.

How to Claim a Sign-Up Bonus as a Driver

To claim an Uber sign-up bonus, first obtain a referral code from an existing Uber driver, such as ours, wg2ustj27f8q.

If you apply directly through the referral link above, the code will automatically be applied to your account.

If you don’t apply through the link, you’ll need to manually enter this code in the “Invite code” section during the application.

After you’ve gone through the application process, passed a background check, and gotten successfully approved to drive, simply complete the bonus requirements as outlined in the promotion’s terms.

Once complete, Uber Eats will then verify your deliveries and credit the bonus to your account.

I suggest maximizing earnings by prioritizing short trips, driving during peak hours, and staying in Boost and Surge zones.

As you can see, this is a great way to earn extra income while

How to Share a Referral Code as an Existing Uber Driver

If you have someone who you think would make an excellent Uber driver, you can refer them using the exact same code that you would use to refer a rider to the app.

There are two ways to find your referral code if you are a driver.

The first is to look in the Uber driver app, where it will tell you your code and allow you to send a personalized message to anyone within your contact list, either by SMS or email.

Drivers can also find their code on their partner dashboard, available at partners.uber.com, where they can also track referrals and rewards for how many riders and drivers they sign up.

How Uber Referrals Work for Customers

Uber also offers their customers a way to earn free credit for referring new users to the platform.

The program works in a similar way for existing customers and riders, but instead of offering a cash bonus like the driver program does, the rider and passenger program offers free credit in return.

If a new rider or customer signs up using your invite code (ours is eats-prgey), they’ll get free ride credit good towards their first rides or food orders.

Uber Promo CodePromotion Amount
eats-prgeyGet $10 off your first order.
eats-emilyl112144ueGet $7 off your first order.
eats-daloressueGet $7 off your first order.
eats-briennep18uiGet $7 off your first order.
eats-s505Get $5 off your first order.
save40Receive $2 off your first three rides ($6 total credit)

It doesn’t matter what service you’re referring a customer to (Uber ridesharing, Uber Eats, etc…) you’ll still get credit in some form.

It should be noted that reward amounts do vary based on location, so the total offer value you see here may differ slightly for you.

All they need to do is sign up using a referral link and the promotion will be automatically applied to their account in the form of a credit.

Once they’re ready to check out (for Uber Eats order) or to take a ride (for ridesharing trips), the credit amount should be subtracted from their total. Simple!

Once the referred user placed an order and it gets delivered, or they take a ride and get dropped off, the referring user will see the credit applied to their account as well.

They’ll then see a credit within their own account that works exactly as the new Uber user’s credit did.

How to Claim Free Credit as a User

To apply your referral code when signing up as a rider, you can follow any of the links above and it will be automatically applied to your registration.

If you don’t have access to the links and are signing up at uber.com or with the app, you can enter your referral code manually while registering.

Simply enter your referral code where it says “Add a promo code.” On the sign-up page, it looks like this:

use this uber referral code to get a sign up bonus for new driver

Once you click on “Add a promo code,” you’ll be able to enter your referral code. It’ll look like this:

use this uber referral code to get a sign up bonus for new driver

Once you’ve entered a code, click “Sign Up” and you’ll be ready to ride.

If you want to apply a referral code when signing up to be a driver, you can either do so by following a link provided to you by another driver, or by contacting Uber support after you’ve already registered.

You have 15 days to do so after you’ve registered.

How to Share a Referral Code as an Existing Uber User

Finding your own Uber referral code is a little tricky.

Once you have the Uber app (available via the App Store or Google Play), you need to go to the Menu, which is located in the top left corner of the app.

It looks like this:

use this uber referral code to save on rides for new users

From there, you look down to find Free Rides in the menu:

use this uber referral code to save on rides for new users

Once you tap on it, you will be able to see your personalized code.

You will also see links to share that code via messages, by sending directly to your contacts (they have a list of your contacts organized by phone number), or by sharing on social media.

If your friend is a first-time Uber user, the first time they use Uber you’ll get that discount credited to you.

A nice part about Uber is that they simplified the referral program so that any one of their services you use will have the same personalized referral code.

For example, if you want to refer someone to use Uber Eats, their food delivery service, you just add “eats-” then insert your personal code after.

Sign Friends Up and Save

Referring people to use ride-hailing apps is a great way to spread the gospel and save yourself some money on future trips.

With Uber’s referral program, they’ve made it easy by giving you one personalized referral code to use across all their services, for sharing with both potential riders and drivers.

Whether you use the rider app or are a driver for the company, the referral program can earn you money, either in free trips or, in the case of drivers, with cash directly deposited into your account.
